A little advice on the little things
Hello, it’s a new week again, so I thought I could write an article reminding we developers(especially me) of some little things.
It’s the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen. — John Wooden
You know as a developer in 2018 (back-end or front-end devs), there is always one new technology springing up with a whole lot of new conventions and patterns to master. This could be overwhelming sometimes(it is for me most of the time).
Everyone is trying to accomplish something big, not realizing that life is made up of little things — Frank G Clark
However, there is a need to maintain a sense of balance. Although we have to master these new trends to stay relevant and competitive in our community and jobs, the most important investment still remains the investment on self.
That said, it is important to always make a strong grounding on your chosen language your magnificent obsession and a priority. Understand: the frameworks are based on languages, so if you understood the language proficiently, the framework will also become less daunting to grasp(and perhaps give you the skill to write yours too).
So this is my recommendation: I’d say spend a significant amount of time working on the little things of your chosen language in it’s vanilla form(building applications with the vanilla language will tend also to help in this direction)
Framework mastery doesn’t make one a world class developer but language mastery does.
So that’s it guys, go back to good ol’ data structure and syntax of your language(s), the frameworks are important for a consistent workflow, but mastery on the language makes you a better developer in the long run. Thank you.
Do leave some claps and your comments are always welcome.
