Organizers of large conferences, events, and even local user groups have canceled over fears of the Coronavirus — COVID-19. It’s a smart move for organizers to shut things down to help stop the spread of not only COVID-19 but everything else you can get sick from right now. Unfortunately, developer-focused companies that rely on these events are going to have to change their entire DevRel (developer relations) strategy.

Here are a few ways your company can be proactive about getting ahead of this disruption and build a healthier, scalable, online developer community.

Deliver Your Content Online

I have been doing DevRel in one form or another for over 15+ years at companies like Samsung, Amazon, and Microsoft. Even before the coronavirus outbreak, I always preferred an “online first” content strategy. While I’ve traveled across the world to speak at conferences, but I’ve always created more awareness online. Evangelists and developer advocates need to work on a much larger scale than sales. We are top of the funnel, and our engagements are always one to many.
